Analytics report suite as cross device data source

Avatar

Hi All,

Can analytics report suit be used as cross device data source? and can it be then used as data source in profile merge rule based on it. If yes what should be the integration code (default is {"suite":"<report suit ID>","datacenter":"sin"}).  My objective is to use analytics data source for profile merge.

If a logged in user is qualified for a segment with traits based on analytics variables on one device, the user should qualify for the same segment in other device in  case of profile merge rule "Current authenticated & profile link device graph"

Please advice.

Thanks

Hi Sneha,

Thanks for the nice words and apologies for the late response.

Adobe Analytics report suites as data sources are auto created in audience manager in respect report suites mapped to an organization. You can create a cross device data source of your own and create profile merge rules.

Data sources in audience manger are namespaces that helps you organize your data. You can create your own data source depending on the use case in audience manager to store traits and segments. The users in those traits and segments will be tied to the data source Id in which they were created. You need n't necessarily use analytics data source for creating profile merge rule. You can create a cross device data source of your own and use it in profile merge rule.

Thanks,

Shweta

Hi Sneha,

My name is Shweta and I am from AAM support team.Report suite data sources are cookie data source and are auto created in audience manager. We do not recommend you to you edit these data sources.

You a create a new cross device data source in AAM instance and then use it in profile merge rule. Please refer to our documentation for more information on integration codes and data sources.

Thanks,

Shweta

Thanks Shweta .

Does this mean that if an organization has only Adobe Analytics report suites as data sources (hypothetical situation), it is not possible to use profile merge rules ?  What is the recommended way to implement cross device profile merge and deliver marketing campaigns across multiple devices using only analytics data source.

Btw, your office hour session on profile merge rule was crisp and helpful. Looking forward for more such sessions. Thanks!

Thanks,

Sneha

Based on my understanding on this so far from multiple discussions, Analytics report suit should bot be used as cross device data sources as recommended by Adobe (even though AAM allows you to change the settings). However I am still in search of reason why it cannot be used as cross device data sources and what is technical limitations here.

Hi Sneha,

There is no technical limitation as such but as I mentioned earlier these data sources are auto created in audience manager. They are used by AAM for sharing of Analytics segments with the Experience Cloud and should be used for this purpose only.

Thanks,

Shweta
