Need input on passing web beacons from website to AAM directly (through by-passing Analytics)

Hi Experts,

There is a requirement for capturing the real time signal (online trait) from website and passing it to Audience Manager for creating Rule based traits.

  1. Based on the Adobe documentation, the web beacon (say event5 for purchase completion) should be pass to Analytics first and then using Server Side Forwarding, it will be passed to Audience Manager. I’ve done the same POC and able to receive the analytics signal in AAM for creating corresponding traits and segments. It is working properly.
  2. While having discussion with other Adobe thread, we came to know that there is another way of passing the web beacons directly from website to Audience Manager by by-passing the Adobe Analytics.
    1. Is it possible to pass the purchase completion event signal (say event5) directly from website to AAM?
    2. What would be the pros and cons of by-passing the Adobe Analytics if it is possible.
    3. Any kind of documentation/pointer will be great help.
  3. Also, we want to create a hybrid segment that will be composed of offline (on boarded trait) and real time (rule based trait) signals.
    1. Option-1: We can create the Rule based traits corresponding to analytics signal and On boarded traits corresponding to CRM signals and then both traits can be paired for creating new segment.
    2. Option-2: Is it possible to create online segment in Analytics and then pass it to Audience manager. And creating another segment corresponding to on boarded traits. Later pairing both online segment and offline segment will provide the filtered segments for targeted experience.

Kindly suggest the feasibility and pro/cons of Option-2 if it is possible. Any kind of documentation/pointer will be great help.

Thanks!

Hi,

1) I'm glad you were able to get SSF setup in a POC environment. That is the recommended method for passing Analytics data to Audience Manager.

2) Yes, there is another way to send Analytics data to Audience Manager. This method involves deploying another Javascript library to the page called DIL. This is the legacy method as all functionality that DIL provides is now supported via SSF. Here is a base documentation page for DIL. Like I mentioned previously, Adobe recommends that anyone with Analytics and AAM use SSF instead of the DIL module. Having the DIL code on the page requires another javascript library to load on the page. This comes with some downsides like loading, updating, troubleshooting, ect..

3) You could create a segment in Audience Library that is comprised of Customer Attributes and Analytics raw data that functions in real time. Other than that, you'd need to use Audience manager to create the segment. Again, we'd recommend using SSF for this use case.

Thank you very much Jantzen, I was fully confident that you'll surely reply on this thread to provide right direction as usual. Perfect, I am totally aligned with your direction for using SSF and creating hybrid segment in AAM. Kindly mark the post closed. Thanks!

Hi DeepakJanga

I'm moving this thread to the new Adobe Audience Manager community. Feel free to seek inputs, contribute and learn about AAM best practices there.

Best,
