Hi Experts,

I am new Audience Manager and has few questions around file upload and data sources.

  1. We have a total of 10 tables of data, some of these tables use different IDs to identify the same customer; should we send each of these tables to AAM in separate data sources OR one file with all the tables combined to only one data source?
  2. How do we deal with the fact that some of these tables use different visitor IDs for the same visitor? Should we ensure that when we do an ID sync online, all the different IDs are sent to AAM
  3. Can we add multiple IDs in the file that will populate a given data source or should we ask the ETL team to consolidate IDs into a Master ID?
  4. In an offline data source we see there are multiple syntax forms that can be used to populate data, which one would you recommend using? (https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/audience-manager/user-guide/implementation-integration-guides...)

Any insights on this will be really very helpful

Thank you

Hi @LordOfTheRings ,

Please find my answers inline:

1.We have a total of 10 tables of data, some of these tables use different IDs to identify the same customer; should we send each of these tables to AAM in separate data sources OR one file with all the tables combined to only one data source?

This totally depends on your use case on how you want to identify your user.Usually,we identify a user using one unique ID.If we will upload data of all tables having different CRM Ids,same user will be identified  using different Ids which is not the ideal way of identifying user.I think we should first try and sought on how to identify a unique user, create a cross device data source and then do an online id sync. For e.g. we can use encrypted email Ids to identify a customer.

2. How do we deal with the fact that some of these tables use different visitor IDs for the same visitor? Should we ensure that when we do an ID sync online, all the different IDs are sent to AAM.

Answered above.

3.Can we add multiple IDs in the file that will populate a given data source or should we ask the ETL team to consolidate IDs into a Master ID?

Yes,we can add multiple CRM Ids that uniquely identifies the users visiting your web site in an inbound file

4.In an offline data source we see there are multiple syntax forms that can be used to populate data, which one would you recommend using? (https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/audience-manager/user-guide/implementation-integration-guides...)

We can use any syntax which is best suited for the requirement.

Regards,

Shweta

Hey,

Please go through the introductory videos and courses in https://experienceleague.adobe.com.

Regarding your query specific to data ingestion you can see videos and documentation here - https://docs.adobe.com/content/help/en/audience-manager-learn/tutorials/setup-and-admin/data-sources...

Thanks,
