Hello Adobe Community !

Yesterday I was making some tests on a new conversion Variable, and I noticed something I was'nt aware of .

Basically, I did a test, then I closed my tab and window, then I made another test on my evar value - and all within 30 minutes.
I believed that a new visit was going to be counted after closing the tab or window - but my results showed a single visit.

So, the definition of visit is :

"Visits: The number of sessions within a given time period. A visit is defined as a sequence of consecutive page views without a 30-minute break, or continuous activity for 12 hours. They most commonly consist of multiple image requests, however visitors that bounce can consist of a single page view."

Is this a normal behaviour ? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong on my workspace analysis ?

Cheers !

This is totally a normal behavior. Opening a new window/tab in the same browser within 30 minutes (without deleting browser's cache and cookie) will continue the same visit. This is as designed.

However, if you open an incognito browsing mode or a new browser, it would consider a new visit.

This is because visit/visitor is counted based on Analytics cookies stored on the browser. Opening a new tab or window takes the cookie value from the same browser, and hence the same visit.

Hope this clarifies!
