Traffic from Display banner ads

Avatar

Level 1

Our company placed display banner ads to online publications.  We served the ads using Google Campaign Manager and provided the tags for the publishers to implement the tags to their site.  When I checked the Analytics, almost 96% of the traffic from banner ads were from referral, specifically s0.2mdn.net. I have no idea why.  Does anyone know?

Thanks!

It could be possible that your Ads are having a redirect which would cause this.

To fix this, you may want to use referrer override functionality.

Hope this helps.

Referrer overwrite will not help as it must be placed on the controlled page. The ad traffic comes via third-party servers where that implementation is not possible.

Thank you for your comments both of you. I am just a marketing/client service person who has very little knowledge of analytics and tagging. Does the "Referrer overwrite" have to be done in the ad server side, back-end of the website, or analytics? Our team has an access to the ad-server but the website and the analytics are managed by other parties. Apology in advance if I sound like a fool.

The Referrer Override will have to be set within the Analytics Tags on the site and not on the ad server side.

Thank you, srola! I guess I have to contact the development team and the analytics team to implement the tags.
