Tracking traffic on third party sites

Avatar

Hi - What is the step-by-step process to enable tracking on third party sites / other domains?

We have a separate site under a different domain that we'd like traffic and click data on but not sure how to set up tracking on the site to enable this. Thank you!

Hi @_teresa ,

To be able to answer your query I need more clarity on the ask. Are you saying that the third party site doesn't have Analytics implemented on it? If yes, then you can track the data via exit links. For example, if I have two web sites like abc.com & test.com. We have Analytics implemented on abc.com but not in test.com. So, in this scenario, I will capture the data on the button or a link that is directing me from abc.com to test.com. You can also try using the Exit Link Redirects. For more information on Exit Link Redirects, you can also refer to the below documentation link.

Also, please note if you need to use Exit Link Redirect then you will need to get in touch with the Client Care team to whitelist the destination domain.

Hope this helps.

Hi @kainth , not sure if cross-domain tracking is the more appropriate term. The third party site doesn't have tracking on it and there's not a re-direct from our site directing users to the third party site for us to track exit links.

Basically, we have Site A, which has analytics tracking on it, and now we have Site B on a different domain that doesn't. Is it possible for us to set up Adobe Analytics tracking on Site B and have that data be reported under the same report suite for Site A? If so, how do I go about tackling this? Thank you!

Hi @_teresa,

For the cross-domain tracking to work the Analytics code needs to be present on both the sites. However, since you don't have Analytics code on the third-party web site. So, for tracking the visitors data you will need to do that using the Exit Links. based on my understanding. For more information on Cross-domain tracking, you can refer to the below documentation link.

Hope this helps.

If you are the owner of the other website and can make changes in the code, it is similar to implementing Analytics on your own website. You just need to keep the tracking server and report suite same.
