'None' in Marketing Channel

Avatar

Hi team,

After making changes to referring domain processing rule to not to capture 'checkout.telstra.com.au'. I can see 'None' marketing channels order numbers have gone up

this doesn't make sense to me

Does anyone have any idea how to debug this problem ?

Thanks

This would mean that there are hits where the Referring Domain is "checkout.telstra.com.au" and those are the first hits of the visits. I assume such hits don't fall under your "Internal" Marketing Channel's processing rules, nor anywhere else.

In that case, AA doesn't know what to do with them, and categorises them under the "None" channel.

It might be worth reviewing all of your Marketing Channel Processing Rules in a holistic fashion instead of troubleshooting one-by-one.

@yuhuisgThanks for your reply.

Yes I have listed "checkout.telstra.com.au" in Internal URL filters which means it should fall under "Internal" Marketing Channel but it is not that is why I want to debug None as it doesn't make sense.

@Luca_Lattarini what do the Processing Rules for your "Internal" Marketing Channel look like?

@_sangeetas18054thanks for the image. I just realised that you had also posted it in an earlier reply. Apologies for making you double-post it.

What is the sort order of your "Referring Domains" and "Internal" Processing Rules? In my setup, "Internal" comes first, then "Referring Domains". My "Internal" and "Referring Domains" have the same conditions as yours (with the exception of the "Referring Domain does not contain checkout.telstra.com.au" condition).

@yuhuisgthanks. In my setup it is the same "Internal" comes first, then "Referring Domains"
I am not sure why none is coming under Marketing Channel

@_sangeetas18054 what happens if you remove the "Referring Domain does not contain checkout.telstra.com.au" from your "Referring Domains" Processing Rule?

@yuhuisgIf I remove it traffic goes into Referring Domain Marketing Channel and doesn't reflect the right data

Initially my setup was without "Referring Domain does not contain checkout.telstra.com.au" and this didn't reflect right traffic and orders

@_sangeetas18054 then what happens if in your Referring Domains rule, for the "Referring Domain does not contain checkout.telstra.com.au", you uncheck the checkbox for "Ignore hits matching Internal URL filters"?

@yuhuisg yeah I was thinking about it, I have made changes now so lets observe for next 2 days and see how data is flowing in Marketing Channels
