Fallout Visualisation - Breakdown Fallthrough

Avatar

Level 2

Hi,

I am trying to find out where traffic is going from Page 1 of my site before reaching Page 2. Through researching I have found the fallout report with the breakdown of fallthrough. In the below screenshot I have created a Fallthrough from page 1 to page 2 while looking at the 'Eventual Path'. I am looking at a 'visit' level rather than 'visitor'.

I don't understand how in the first visualisation the traffic reaching the page is 2,063 visits and yet in the fallthrough the total adds up to 1,522. Surely this should be the same number? That way the different in the Eventual Path number and the Next Hit number (not pictured) would be the breakdown of the pages.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you had used the "Breakdown fallthrough at this touchpoint" to build your freeform table:

As the help bubble indicates, the table shows the next hit after this touchpoint. If you look at your "Fallthrough: Page..." segment's definition, you can also see that there is a sequential segment condition that requires a next hit after Page 2.

So I believe the difference between the 2,063 visits and the 1,522 visits would be those visits that exited your website after reaching Page 2.

Thanks for the response yuhuish.

You are correct in that I did use the "Breakdown fallthrough at this touchpoint" but I used this on the first touchpoint. The table should therefore show the next hit after touchpoint/page A on the freeform table I believe.

In the segment definition generated for this I can see the following:

HIT
VISIT
Page = Page A
- THEN -
Page = Page B

AND -
VISIT
HIT
Page = Page A

- THEN Within 1 Hit(s) -
HIT
Page exists

- THEN -
HIT
Page exists

My understanding is that the "Breakdown fallthrough at this touchpoint" on the first touchpoint should show the next hit after the first page (not page 2) for anyone that eventually reached page 2.
