CNAME Certification Queries

Hi Team,

I would like to clear the following queries.

We are having two domains. One is example.com(B2C/B2B Customer based site) and another one is My.example.com(internal employee purpose).

1) example.com - Already implemented with analytics with third party cookies.

2) my.example.com - we are going to do fresh implementation. Plan to get CNAME certification from clientcare.

My question is > Our plan to implement CNAME process for my.example.com alone for now. In future, if we ask for example.com, will it be a separate then? Can we ask them to provide one certificate for both the websites.

Note: my.example.com implement process on the same organization analytics account which we have used for example.com.

The Hostname contains a keyword like smetrics/sstats/somni etc and should be ended with the domain for which you would like to use that hostname.
If the domain is abc.com

SSL Hostname can be like smetric.abc.com
Non-SSL Hostname: metrics.abc.com

If the domain is xyz.abc.com
SSL Hostname: smetric.xyz.abc.com
Non-SSL Hostname: metrics.xyz.abc.com

As per your example, my.example.com seems to be a subdomain of example.com so Adobe can create one FPC setup for example.com which can be used for both example.com and my.example.com. You can implement that for my.example.com now and later can use the same for example.com.

If B2B/B2C and internal sites are different domains(like abc.com and xyz.com) all together than Adobe would need to create 2 different FPC setups(one for each domain) and would require different SSL certificates.

@vibhatnathanks for the clarification mate. I was also on the same page. To proceed with subdomain for alone now. Later for the main website.

Another query, regarding the FCP form > we need to fill up our own names which we would like to configure under tracking server right.

DATA Collection host names section under FCP form >>>

Domain :- my.example.com

securehostname:- smyexample.com

non-secure hostname:- myexample.com.

I guess, I'm filling this up in a correct way or I should go with main website as a common name like **bleep**ample.com considering future perspective for the main domain.

Also Adobe can purchase the SSL cert. on your behalf for the FPC setups at no additional cost.

Create CNAME as follows and use them for both sites (example.com and my.example.com). They can be also used for any other subdomains under .example.com:

something1.example.com (tracking server)

something2.example.com (secure tracking server)
