Independent Privacy Status for Analytics and Target

Is it possible to change the privacyStatus for Adobe Analytics and Adobe Target independently of one another?

The documentation for the setting the user's privacy status says the following, indicating that the privacy status affects both Analytics and Target:

  • Opt in

    • Analytics: Hits are sent.
    • Target: Mbox requests are sent.
    • ...
  • Opt out

    • Analytics: Hits are discarded.
    • Target: Mbox requests are not allowed.
    • ...

In our particular scenario we would like to be able to control each one separately, so that we can provide some core functionality via Target regardless of whether the user has opted out of analytics.

Interestingly, the documentation for the JSON Config demonstrates the privacyDefault value nested within the analytics object, which fills me with a hope that they are somewhat independent but perhaps its just a tease!

Thanks for your help.
