How to compare New Visitors vs. Returning Visitors?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out the % of new vs. returning visitors that our site gets monthly. I've tried following the instructions at https://helpx.adobe.com/analytics/kb/comparing-new-visitors-to-return-visitors.html but it hasn't helped. Is there a more straightforward way of getting to this number? Appreciate any help. Thank you!

    I guess, if you use the below plugin then you should get the numbers as expected.

      You can add this plugin code and variable set in s_code.js file. And, if you are using DTM then you can add it under Library Management/Customize page code section.
