Moving away from Flash in report graphs

Given the number of browsers that block or don't support Flash (Firefox most recently), the number of recent 0-day exploits, and the lack of features currently enabled, I think it is time for Adobe to switch to a different method for generating graphs within the Marketing Cloud.

Moving away has multiple advantages:

  1. Better cross-browser support, including browsers that don't allow Flash (e.g. mobile)
  2. Remove the requirement to reload the page just to change the graph type
  3. Easily save or export the graph without downloading the entire report

Additionally, the following enhancements could be added

  1. Allow for users to zoom in and out on the graph (within their given date range) to see instances
  2. Highlight or change the colors of dimensions on the graph

While it is unconventional to request a company to move away from using one of their own products, I think it is time for Adobe Analytics to move away from requiring the use of Flash within their Marketing Cloud products. There are numerous client-side libraries that do a much better job of generating graphs than what is currently implemented.

If you go to menu Components >> Report Settings you will get the option to disable Flash Graphs

If you untick this option your graphs will display as GIF image

We are planning to move away from Flash-based visualizations as you are already seeing in Analysis Workspace, Anomaly Detection, the Real-Time report, etc.

Analysis Workspace has completely moved away from Flash and relies wholly on JavaScript. We recommend using Workspace as much as possible.
