Getting Enabled to Use Processing Rules

Because processing rules permanently affect Analytics data, processing rules administrators are required to receive certification training in Adobe Analytics, and be familiar with all sources of data for your report suites (standard web sites, mobile sites, mobile apps, Data Insertion API, and so on). Knowledge of the context data variables and standard variables populated in various platforms will help prevent accidental deletion or alteration of data.

It is recommended that a limited group of administrators (usually 2-3) have access to processing rules so that all requested changes are centrally planned, edited, and approved. And it's always best to have more than one administrator assigned for redundancy.

How to take the Processing Rules Certification Test

Expect to spend about ten minutes creating a login and enabling a free test. Then, expect an additional 20-40 minutes answering questions.

  1. Navigate to the Pearson VUE Web Account Creation page and fill out the required information. You can leave the Adobe ID field blank.
  2. Click the checkbox indicating that you accept Pearson VUE's Privacy Policy, then click Next.
  3. Provide an address and phone number. It can either be your organization's address or your personal address. Click Next.
  4. A confirmation page comes up indicating that you can expect your user name and password via email in the next 24 hours.
  5. Once you receive the confirmation email with your login credentials, log in to your account.
  6. Click the checkbox next to "9A0-279 Adobe® Site Catalyst Processing Rules Recertification Exam." Select your language, then click Next.
  7. Enter SCProcRules into the Promotion Code Field, then click Apply Promo Code. A 100% discount to the $60.00 exam fee is applied. Click Next.
  8. Read and agree to both the cancelation policies and minimum system requirements. Click Confirm Order.
  9. When you are ready to start, click Begin Exam.
  10. A new window pops up, providing a short survey before the test. Answer each of the survey questions to begin the test.

After Appearing for the Test

When finished, review your results:

  1. Log back in to your Pearson Account using the username/password provided via email. This email can take up to 24 hours to arrive in your inbox.
  2. Upon logging in, click View Score Report, which downloads a PDF on whether you passed or failed.
    • If you fail, review the Processing Rules training video and Admin Tools User Guide. Once you are ready, click Schedule Exams in the left menu and follow steps 6-10 again.
    • If you pass, have one of your organization's supported users contact Customer Care with the following:
      • A copy of the downloaded PDF indicating you passed the test
      • Your Analytics login company and user name

Customer Care verifies this information and grants your Analytics user Processing Rules permissions accordingly.

Hello tanmaym7102255 - could you update this info now that Adobe no longer partners with Pearson?   We've spent a lot of time going in circles on this, thanks.

To be clear, there is no longer a requirement to become certified to use processing rules specifically.

ACE Certifications, which are quite different from the aforementioned processing rules certification, are no longer handled through Pearson as you've outlined.
