Hi All, My hair caught fire as I was updating my reports to reflect the replacement for the legacy resource tools and finding that I had to use Legacy Budgeted Hours because Budgeted Hours cannot be viewed in a project report. Another "oops" after omitting a new Budget field for the new Resource Budgeting tool in its first release. So far the only good thing about the replacement for the legacy flash tools is that they don't use flash. Other than that they are nearly useless for our purposes. You can bet I'll be reaching out to the product manager and my account rep. And I haven't told you what I really think yet!
Budgeted hours

I have a question (aka, serious concern) about the resource planner. I've been pouring over the articles, reading through the community posts, and playing around with the system, and I'm worried about what I think is going to be the answer to my question.
So, my team doesn't necessarily use Workfront the way most people do. We have small project teams of 1-4 people that don't always assign planned hours to tasks or even assign tasks to anyone in particular. We do, however, rely heavily on being able to project time for the coming months.
We currently use legacy resource estimates to project our time three months out to know what kind of capacity everyone has coming up. Each person goes in on their own and puts week by week how much time they think they'll be spending on each project they assist on.
Apart from a person being associated with a task's planned hours, adding in budgeted hours seems to be the only way for someone to project time. But in trying to use the system and from what I've read, it appears you can't report on budgeted hours, only planned hours. If we're not really using planned hours, how can we report our projections? Any help is greatly appreciated! Tiffany Marlin Georgia Institute of Technology

Hi - yeah, I'm a little concerned to. Besides the Resource Grid, my second most popular report is Resource Estimate. Right now, it does seem you will only be able to use the Resource Planner view or the Utilization report (although the global one does not go down to people, so you have to go to individual projects). I would talk to your CSM so that 1) you can be in the Legacy Resourcing Planning Group (<A data-url="https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010302413" class="embedly-content" href="https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010302413-Flash-Feature-Groupings" flash="" feature="" groupings=""></A>

Hi Tiffany, I would agree with Anthony, Vazgen is an amazing resource. I'd recommend reaching out to your account executive to arrange a meeting with him. I haven't played with it much, but it looks like you might be able to use resourceBudgetedHour via text mode, though it's a bit outside the scope of what I can offer help with, our remote consulting team would be awesome to talk this over with. Here's our API explorer for you to review it further: <A href="https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/220633507-API-Explorer" target="_blank">https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/220633507-API-Explorer</A> Dustin Martin Assigned Support Engineer Workfront
