We create a task called "Project Oversight" for our project managers to record non-task time with the following details:

Task duration is equal to the project duration.

"Simple" allocation of 10% of total allocated hours on the project which gives us a general picture of capacity.

Task predecessor set to FF of the last task (or last group of parent tasks) to ensure if project tasks push out, so does our oversight task.

Our leadership team likes to see our project managers show up on the resource planner for a project allocating their planned time allocation across the entirety of the project.

Currently, they add monthly tasks to the project and update them regularly.

I'm wondering if anyone has any better ideas on how to do this? It appears that it can impact the timeline, critical path and other areas of the project if not correctly so I'd like to brainstorm some new ideas on how best to do this.

Thanks,

Kellie
