Statement On Marketo.com Access Issues

We apologize sincerely for the access issues you are experiencing today on Marketo.com. Features accessed through Marketo.com such as forms, web personalization, etc. are affected due to a domain access issue through our DNS information service provider. The Marketo.com domains are being propagated and should be completed shortly. Marketing automation capabilities such as campaign management and execution, CRM sync, Munchkin, and API are not affected. As soon as domain access is restored, you will no longer experience these issues.

Hi Betsy,

There is no reason why you email links should stop working as, if your Marketo instance is correctly setup, you should use a subdomain of your own domain for all email images and links. If this not the case, then your setup has not been done as recommended.

Hi Sanford,

Thx for pointing to it. We ran some wide tests on landing pages at the beginning of the incident (at about 3PM, CET, so that makes it 6AM, Pacific time) in EU and all of our LP's were unaffected, so we did not worry. But may be the whole DNS had not propagated the domain failure at that hour.

Yes, it took longer to show because the glue RRs also needed to age out.

Hi Michael, I'm so sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. There have been quite a number of emails in to CSMs company-wide, and we are all working diligently to ensure any continuing issues are handled. Have you gotten a response yet? If not, I can personally reach out to your CSM for you. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with.

Thanks, Gabrielle

Nothing from CSM – I did get an email from support asking if I was ok with the DNS issue itself, but nothing specific about the loss of income

Marketo Support confirmed that the DNS issue prevented email recipients from clicking the links in the emails and successfully loading the landing pages (on our site not MK landing pages).  I could see the repeated clicks on the links in activity history, but no traffic on the pages from the campaigns. Marketo should have prevented email from sending. Period.
