How to add to program automatically when uploading lists

Hey Marketo Community,

I'm having a weird situation where uploading leads to a static list that is a child of a program does not automatically make them members of the program, forcing me to use a smart campaign each time to add to program. Am I crazy? I thought this was supposed to happen automatically whenever you upload lists to a program?

I believe this is expected behaviour if you add the leads via the Members tab.

Otherwise you'd need to have a smart campaign that listens for "Add to list".

Hakim Garuba​, I agree with @Nicholas Manojlovic​ -- there is no inherent logic that will make a lead a member of your program if you add them to a local static list.

That is why adding them via the members tab can be useful as they will get status automatically in that case.

Alternatively building a smart campaign flow and having it execute whatever logic you want based on the list upload as Nicholas mentioned, which can be preferable if there are a bunch of flow steps that you need to execute anyways (e.g., update some other data values).
